How to get to 'Eua
1. By Plane
A very short and quick flight from Tongatapu to ‘Eua.
Travellers can board a flight to ‘Eua from the domestic airport in Fua’amotu.
Fly to ‘Eua Island from the main island of Tonga (Tongatapu) on our Domestic Flight – Lulutai Airline. Flight takes approx 10 minutes.

Airfare are approx $100/adult, Lulutai usually have specials from time to time.
If you’ve just arrived to Tonga, there are transfers from Fua’amotu International Airport to The Domestic Airport by taxi (usually parked outside airport depending on ETA, unless otherwise arranged.
Just few minutes away, however, you would require a vehicle to get there OR some likes the long walk if you have plenty of time and less luggage to carry, approx 2km.
In case at the last resort, you’re totally stuck. Ask the locals or Airport staff and they would be happy to assist you.
2. By Sea
Definitely a cheaper alternative, approx 30 minutes boat ride with beautiful scenery along the way.

Operation Time: Monday – Saturday (no boats operate on Sundays)
Travel Time: Approx 30-40 mins
Fees: Approx $20 – $25pp (vary depending on season). You pay this at the wharf before departure but best to organise few days prior.

Tonga Meteorological Services, Government of Tonga on facebook consistently posts about scheduled departure / arrival for these vessels.
Warning: Please double check & double confirm Ferry Schedules as it can change last minute due to many factors including weather warnings, vessel breakdowns etc.
A cheaper alternative to flying is taking the ferry from Nuku’alofa in Tongatapu to ‘Eua. Two ferry operators, ‘Eua Sea Transportation Council sailing the MV Maui and the MV ‘Onemato and Tofa Ramsay Shipping sailing MV Alaimoana, have ferries departing from Queen Salote Wharf in Nuku’alofa. Journeys are 1 hour to 2h30mins and cost approximately TOP$20-$25 per person. Although ferries run on a schedule, where up-to-date schedules can be accessed via the Nuku’alofa Visitor Information Centre, it’s best to contact before departure as schedules are subject to change.
